NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Greg Biffle took a break from the big-time racing circuit to drive a Pacific Coast Fast Track Dirt Car at Sunset Speedway in Banks, Oregon this summer.
The event was a memorial race for John Miller, who was one of Biffle's early sponsors in racing.
The 2007 Forest Grove Concours featured "European Excellence" and offered many fine cars not usually available for public viewing. Highlights included a 1933 Alfa Romeo that competed in the 1936 24 Hours of Le Mans and an antique vehicle that ran the 1903 Paris to Madrid race.
TheBig Shindigcar show was a blast! In my opinion, the best car show so far this summer. Live music, including the fabulous Verbtones, set up on a classic flatbed truck stage. Lots of great rods and fashions on display, and the most original, creative trophies I've seen - made of welded-up engine and transmission parts.
The Baxter Auto Parts Portland Historic Races were back with their usual excellent assortment of cars both on the race track and at the collector car corrals.
June 23, 2007 was the date for the Columbia Gorge MGA Club's classic motorcar rally. Over 70 cars participated, and the rally was won by Dave and Jessica Beach in an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint coupe. The rally traveled from the Columbia Gorge to Estacada and almost to Oregon City, all over scenic rural backroads.

Each year in May, the Portland Transmission Cruise-In takes over several blocks of SE Portland for an impromptu car show. Baxter Auto Parts supplies hot dogs and drinks, and if there's one show to see all summer, this is it.
