The Mazda6 is a solid mid-size sedan, with plenty of room to carry 5 adults. The trunk can only be described as cavernous. This is a car you can use to haul people around in comfort. It’s comparable to the Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata, BMW 3 series, or the Chevy Malibu.

Always the soul of a sports car

With that being said to set your expectations, there are a couple surprises in store for you. The first is that Mazda delivers the Mazda6 with a 6-speed manual transmission. That’s going to win points with sports car enthusiasts, because the only other car in that lineup that offers you a stick is the BMW.  The second point is that the Mazda6 starts at just $24,910 in the “i” level Grand Touring trim, which buys you heated power leather seats, steering wheel controls, satellite radio, keyless entry and start, Bluetooth, Xenon HID headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a bunch of other nice features. That’s about $10,000 less than a comparably equipped BMW.

I like Mitsubishi cars. I think that, along with Mazda, Mitsubishi is the natural choice of drivers who want an economically sensible car that offers a sports car experience. Call it the “Bang for the Buck” ratio.

Sporty and Fast and Under $20K

Mitsubishi rolled out their newest version of the venerable Lancer nameplate just over 14 months ago in December of 2007.  The company has been making an economy sedan under the Lancer name since the 70s, and it’s a good brand. The last generation of Lancer gave birth to Mitsubishi’s economy supercar, the Evo.

OK, enough of the background. What have we got here for 2009?

Jaguar XF Revisited PDF Print E-mail

There really is something special about a Jaguar. Although the company was wholly owned by Ford for years and a few bits and pieces found their way across the pond to England’s pride, the essence of a Jag is still a thing apart from other cars.

That’s not to say a Jaguar is perfect – no car ever is completely without flaws. But a Jaguar has always had something special. Call it a soul, or handcrafted elegance, or just a design that you’re either going to love or hate, a Jag is a Jag.

So, this is the second time I’ve had an XF Supercharged model for a week. I spent my first time, just when the car was launched, learning about the new model and enjoying the power. This time, I looked for updates and improvements. To the best of my knowledge, they didn’t announce any mid-year changes, but I noticed a few things that have been tightened up and improved as the XF has matured in its first model year.
